EXCITING NEW CHAPTER FOR THE TAMASKAN
 
Progress implies moving generally forward, irrespective of the bumps and hickups along the way.  The TBA was created to promote, protect and advance the interests of the Tamaskan Dog in an honest and ethical manner, encourage the general welfare of the breed in the US and elsewhere through education, forthrightness and full disclosure; to promote improved quality in the breeding of purebred Tamaskan Dogs; to encourage others to support the expansion and promotion of the Tamaskan through continued education and to provide for both breeders and owners.  Because we felt that this could not be accomplished within the larger parent group (the Tamaskan Dog Register (TDR) under the direction of the founders), the TBA became the registering body for the Aatu Tamaskan.
 
Since our establishment in 2009, much has changed within the TDR, especially within the last year.  Most notable is the fact that last year they completely severed ties with the two founding breeders, Blustag and Blufawn, for whose unethical practices caused our separation from the TDR.  The present day TDR appears to be moving in many respects towards these same goals and objectives that we set out for the TBA.  And in those respects we believe to be most important for the success of a healthy breed, we seem to be moving in parallel directions.  After careful deliberation and frank discussions with the reorganized TDR,  the TBA Committee has decided that  it  is in the  best interest of the breed to fold back into the newly established TDR.  This change will expand Club membership, expand the gene pool and provide more breeder options.    Breed  recognition is dependent upon the number of dogs and therefore, it will also enable the Tamaskan to move closer to formal breed recognition.  With recent events and changes within the TDR, we are confident that you will see no change in the ethical manner or quality in breeding which brought you to the TBA.
 
IMPORTANT:  All Aatu Tamaskans are eligible for registration as Tamaskan Dogs under comparable designations.  Therefore, if you have a pet, your Aatu will be registered as a non-breeding Tamaskan Dog, if you have a potential breeding quality puppy, your Aatu will be registered as a potential breeding quality Tamaskan Dog subject to virtually the same requirements in consideration for breeding.  All previously registered TDR dogs will be grandfathered into the new organization.
